So here we go, another year, another jump up another trip home. As most of you know I usually visit Barbados twice a year, during the last week of the Crop Over Season and at Christmas. As much as I love to devour multiple ham cutters come December, this is something so irresistable about Crop Over. There is an energy in the air, the vibe is euphoric and sweet soca seems to move even the most rigid of people. For those last couple of weeks leading up to Kadooment, all of your worries just seem to disappear and even strangers in fetes turn into friends.
Aside for the parties, with Barbados being my home it’s always heart-warming to see friends and family. After being in Miami for 11 months of the year, their faces never fail to give me that little push to keep going. Any trip I take home is a blissful illustration of how much I appreciate my little island and loved ones …and reinstates the cliché statement that there really isn’t any place like home.
God-willing ,see you in December Barbados, thank you for yet another amazing visit.
