Natural Hair: After Wash Styling

Posted on: Tuesday, May 31, 2016

I’ve never been a wash and go girl. My hair loves to hold onto water, thus resulting in a tightly coiled, shrinkage filled fro when excess moisture is in the air or in my hair. This is why I opt for braid/twist outs after I wash my hair. I prefer the length, definition and look my hair has afterwards. Even though the process is a little longer, I rather that as opposed to the mass amount of product you must apply to your hair for a wash and go. I get a lighter, bouncier effect without all the water!

The only downside to this method is that it does take a couple of hours to set if you don’t go under the dryer. What I do sometimes if I have to run through the door is just style it in pin up so the ends are tucked away and its able to air dry while setting the curls. This can double up as a protective style for the day- or even longer.

For this twist out I used:
Design Essentials Curl Stretching Creme  – I love this product! It adds so much moisture, and leaves my hair feeling really soft
Coconut Oil – For the most spellbinding shine. This also helps soften the “hold” of the gel for a more lucious feel.
Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel – Extends the wear of my curls
